A. ANTROY ARREOLA

A. Antroy Arreola's practice focuses on representing major energy companies in a broad range of disputes including litigation over royalty payment, mineral ownership, lease development, drilling operations, and production operations. Mr. Arreola has extensive first and second chair experience in every stage of litigation and arbitration, including emergency relief, summary judgment practice, mediation, jury and non-jury trial practice, and post-judgment practice.


Mr. Arreola also has a sophisticated eminent domain practice and has principal responsibility for multiple right of way acquisition projects. In addition to handling primary responsibility for management of these pipeline projects, Mr. Arreola is also responsible for the handling of hundreds of eminent domain matters, which include landowner negotiations, arguing special commissioners' hearings, pursing emergency and injunctive relief for survey access, securing post-hearing property possession, and the litigation resulting from objections to special commissioner awards.

Mr. Arreola can also create customizable, client-specific management systems that allow clients to keep abreast of the status of dozens or hundreds of tracts in dispute through on-line database applications and client-specific reports.


While an associate at his prior firm, Mr. Arreola functioned as in-house counsel for a major energy company, where his duties included managing outside counsel, budgeting litigation expenses, advising business units on litigation risk management and performing complex decision tree style analysis of risk-adjusted economic expectations.

Assisting a gas utility acquire right-of-way for a pipeline lateral to provide natural gas to customers in and around Freeport LNG facilities.


Assisting one of America’s largest midstream companies with expansion of its crude and condensate pipeline network within Harris County.


Assisting a natural gas utility with its acquisition of 160 miles of right-of-way and certain fee interests for a thirty-inch natural gas pipeline taking production from Waha, Texas to the U.S.-Mexico border.


Advising multiple clients on strategies for right-of-way acquisition, best practices for landowner relations, and eminent domain issues.


Has represented major energy companies in a variety of upstream and midstream commercial disputes. Has experience in royalty, ownership, development, production, and operator litigation, as well as extensive knowledge of construction litigation (offshore, pipeline, and facilities) and gas marketing litigation (purchase agreements and interaffiliate sales).


Seconded to major energy company as part-time in-house counsel. Duties included managing outside counsel, budgeting litigation expenses, advising business units on litigation risk management, and performing complex decision tree-style analysis of risk-adjusted economic expectations.


Assisted crude and condensate common carrier with the acquisition of survey rights and rights-of-way for 271 miles of new pipeline connecting Eagle Ford Shale production to the Houston Ship Channel. Also assisted with multiple additions and laterals for same in subsequent years as well as a 100-mile project converting natural gas pipeline to a crude and condensate pipeline.


Assisted major midstream company with the acquisition of survey rights and rights-of-way for 313 miles of natural gas liquids pipeline stretching from Fannin County, Texas to Chambers County, Texas.


Assisted major midstream company with the acquisition of survey rights and rights-of-way for 396 miles of natural gas liquids pipeline stretching from Montague County, Texas to Chambers County, Texas.


Assisted an international energy company with the acquisition of survey rights and rights-of-way for 323 miles of crude oil pipeline stretching from Fannin County to Jefferson County, Texas with planned connection to Canadian oil production.


Represented a major oil and gas company in combined suit for alleged illegal production and regulatory proceeding for alleged violations of drilling permit and related Railroad Commission regulations.


Represented an international oil and gas company in multiple matters alleging lease termination and disputes over residual title to oil and gas properties following large asset divestiture.

Experience representing product manufacturer includes defending the makers of electrical receptacles, liquid pumps (asbestos litigation), blasting equipment (silica litigation), PTO adapters, glass reactor vessels, crane manufacturers, and oxygen absorbers. Experience representing product users or their insurers in actions for property damage includes the users of mobile drilling rigs and defective drill pipe.
